YOUR PASSION FOR THE HOSPITALITY-STAY SECTOR
IS ABOUT TO PAY OFF!
GST – Grow Sustainable Tourism
Invest Local, Impact Global
In locations – places – as diverse as the Karoo is to the lush surrounds of the Warm
Bokkeveld, tourism stay operators attest to growing a more sustainable business
through implementing transformative actions and normative steps using the GST
management method.
South Africa is one of the top six most diverse countries in the world, having seven
distinct biomes and thirty-seven geographical regions of natural and cultural diversity.
This presents a globally compelling tourism proposition, right on your doorstep.
Complementing GST practices with a pragmatic RO I (Return on Investment), each case
study shows high compatibility and steady achievement.
GST is an exclusive, members-only, contract-based verification business and utilises biennial
physical audits to ascertain the desired applications and milestones reached.
GST issues a personal Audit Report as well as a Report for use in your and our marketing of
your membership and GST’s growing importance and influence.
You’re invited to join GST. It is the only Verified, Audited Membership in the
Sustainable Tourism Stay Business. Let’s grow sustainable tourism. Together.
Sustainability spelt with our 4 C's GST Method
C 1 – Conservation. A sustainable Tourism stay business uses natural and cultural production
resources with minimum impact (harm) to these resources.
C 2 – Community is adventuring into local content, finding unique living and natural
assets. Many of these “uncoveries” have entrepreneur-enabling multiplier effects.
C 3 - Customers having a captivating, interactive sense-of-place experience. Guided by
local wisdom, place and kontrei (region) become real memories, fascinating referral
opportunities and persuasive reasons for return visits.
C 4 – Company – a profitable business sustains all other 4 C’s.
Using GST’s 4C’s as the sustainable matrix, your journey begins with a questionnaire
of common-sense management objectives for each C - with you setting your own
management standards.
Each management objective is walked through with your local GST auditor (Assessor)
and personally returns to verify the actual results. Your auditor remains available for
consultation.
The biennial Audit reviews the progress of own objectives and agrees on new opportunities
to grow the 4 C’s.
Members display the valued GST Verification on all communications and certifies your business
for its contribution to Sustainability throughout the Two Yearly Audit and contract period.
The GST Verification Audit adheres to internationally accepted best practice where the
ongoing inputs statistically validate GST’s registered Intellectual Property
and registered trademarks.

*The byline picture of our GST correspondent, SELWYN ROUP, in this blog was taken in front of his home in the historic settlement of Hopefield, located in the Western Cape, South Africa. We invite you to learn more about Hopefield and share your comments on sustainable tourism, particularly tourism stays, and how they can be improved in the area. Hopefield lies to the east of Saldanha Bay and Langebaan, approximately 40 km southeast of Vredenburg and 120 km north of Cape Town. Founded in 1852, the town is renowned for its delicate fynbos and wheat fields. Nearby attractions include the Air Force Base Langebaanweg and the West Coast Fossil Park. If you ever find yourself in the area, explore the local sights and immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the region.
